A Purchase with a Purpose.

I met Miranda from Ico Traders  about 3 years ago to chat about the idea of a fundraiser for families experiencing family violence.

Working within this sector as a supplier of safety alarms I was often frustrated with the increasing number of families at risk and the barriers many of them experienced in accessing a safety device. I would donate when I could however the demand often outweighed supply.

In Miranda, I found a like-minded soul whose caring attitude and  resolve to help, which was a godsend.  Plans were made, ideas brainstormed and The Sophie ( in memory of Sophie Elliot) Tote Bag was born. Our discussions involved Miranda producing the bags, Haloguard supplying the alarms, and recipient domestic violence agencies distributing the alarms to their at-risk families.

To date, we have donated via our Domestic Violence Fundraising, 106 safety alarms to families who are now a heck of a lot safer than they were.

Our friends, family and workmates are now all proud owners of many Sophie Tote bags, as are those of you who purchased them! It was a purchase with a purpose and we are incredibly grateful for your support.

last year we had a break to focus on new developments with the alarm and app, but are now full steam ahead planning this year’s new Sophie Tote fundraiser, as safety for those experiencing domestic violence is as critical now as it has ever been.

We are looking at kicking it off later this year, however we still have a few bags left from our last fundraiser. So if you want to own the coolest tote in town and at the same time support someone in need of safety,  then head to Ico Traders, the-Sophie-tote and check out the stone, daisy and black totes.

We regularly hear about the life-changing impact the alarms have had on people’s daily lives, enabling them to live with confidence , safety and peace of mind ,doing the everyday things that most of us take for granted.

So, to everyone who is walking around with a Sophie tote on their shoulder, we thank you!

Keep an eye out here for updates on this year’s fundraiser

Until then

Keep safe
